Laser
procedure can help women after childbirth
(Dec. 6, 2003) -- A San Antonio doctor is one
of the first to offer a new kind of plastic surgery for women. It's a laser
procedure designed to help with incontinence and to increase a woman's sexual
pleasure.
Dr. Troy Hailparn is one of a handful of
surgeons and the only woman board-certified OB-GYN across the country offering
laser vaginal rejuvenation to an eager
aging female population.
It's a combination of procedures that
both reduce stress urinary incontinence, help with pelvic support problems, and
enhance sexual intercourse by increasing friction, Hailparn said.
Childbirth is one of the biggest reasons women
seek this kind of a fix, she said. A woman who has vaginally delivered a big
baby, had a forceps delivery or several children through her life can have less
elasticity, cutting down on sexual sensation, the doctor explained.
In about an hour under general anesthesia, the
doctor can adjust the sagging bladder and then trim and tighten the area using
the laser. There's very little blood loss and a speedy recovery after this
outpatient procedure.
Doctors say both partners will notice the
difference.
People say they want to look and feel as young
as possible and doctors who perform this procedure say they're just extending
that philosophy to all parts of the body.
