Kegel Laser
Rescue
(Aug. 31, 2005) -- “Why didn’t my doctor tell
me about that,” exclaim most of my patients; referring to the newest cosmetic
laser surgery to improve your sex life.
In reality, women ARE asking, but not being
heard, when it comes to concerns related to sexuality and the appearance of
their genitals.
I am regularly queried by women from all over
the United States coming to the Laser Vaginal Rejuvenation Institute of San
Antonio on ways to improve sexual gratification and
reduce or eliminate urinary
leakage related to childbirth (stress urinary incontinence or SUI).
Whether physicians are just unaware of the
procedures, lack the surgical expertise or just are uncomfortable with the
topic, many women are not being provided with all of the options available to
address their needs.
In my specialty practice, these issues are
dealt with on a daily basis with great sensitivity and seriousness. I feel every
woman has the right to change her body so that it makes life better for her. I
offer women that opportunity.
Feel Better, Function Better, Look Better
Laser Vaginal Rejuvenation (LVR) and
Laser
Reduction Labioplasty are 60-90 minute outpatient laser procedures. LVR not only
enhances sensation with intercourse after childbearing but also improves stress
urinary incontinence; a great relief for many women.
Laser Reduction Labioplasty removes excess,
pigmented, or uneven labial tissue that may not only be embarrassing, but also
uncomfortable with sex, wearing certain clothing, or participating in various
sports activities like bike riding.
In both procedures, the laser minimizes blood
loss, reduces inflammation and risk for infection and reduces recovery time,
thus offering an improvement on the standard techniques with the scalpel. You
can be back at work in 4-6 days following surgery.
Why would anyone want Laser Vaginal
Rejuvenation or Laser Reduction Labioplasty?
Linda, a patient of mine, is a married 38 year
old woman with two young children. Sex had changed significantly over the years
following the birth of her last child and she felt her partner to be more
physically distant.
“I can’t feel him inside of me,” she whispered
and thought it might not feel the same for him either. They hadn’t discussed it
because neither knew how to bring it up.
Unfortunately, many couples never talk about the
differences they notice when their sex life resumes after having a baby. Yet,
feeling sexy doesn’t always happen as easily as you would like.
Sensations are reduced because of stretched
vaginal walls and a stretched or scarred vaginal opening (a baby’s head fit
through that two inch opening!). Leaking urine at inopportune times, like during
sex, is also a symptom of a relaxed vaginal wall.
And it isn’t always just for women that things
have changed. Your loving partner doesn’t necessarily feel the same friction
with intercourse that he did prior to childbirth and he may be afraid of hurting
your feelings by saying things aren’t the same.
On the other hand, women don’t like to bring up
the topic of sexual satisfaction with their partners because the male ego can be
easily traumatized by any implication that the sex they are providing isn’t
top-notch. But it is NOBODY’S fault that these changes occur and there is a
solution!
With
Laser Vaginal Rejuvenation
(video), we tighten the
front and/or back vaginal walls along with the vaginal opening. This enhances
frictional forces and improves sensations with intercourse. It also reduces or
eliminates the leakage of urine.
In tightening the front vaginal wall, support is
provided to the bladder neck and bladder which significantly improves and may
even eliminate stress urinary incontinence (the leaking of urine with sneezing,
coughing, lifting, exercising, laughing and other activities that increase
abdominal pressure). Excess vaginal tissue is removed to improve the tone of the
front wall and tighten it.
By tightening the back wall, symptoms related to
bowel function, i.e. constipation, hemorrhoids, problems with tampons staying
in, problems with your partner’s penis staying in, having to help yourself move
your bowels by reaching into the vagina and applying pressure to the back wall,
are all fixable!!! And so is the problem of not feeling your partner.
Within six to ten weeks of the surgery, sexual
activity can resume. And the difference is noticeable right away.
Linda was ecstatic. The day after surgery she was
almost jumping for joy. “No more leaking,” she shouted.
Eight weeks later, I heard from her again.
“You’re a miracle worker, Dr. Hailparn! Sex hasn’t felt this good since I was
22. That’s for both of us.”
Laser Reduction Labioplasty
The labia minora are the two flaps of skin that
hang in between the hair-covered labia majora. For many women, these flaps of
skin become more obvious after puberty with growth and pigmentation occurring
that, for some, can be extreme.
Girls evolving into women are feeling
uncomfortable with normal physical changes before they understand them. Negative
comments by school-mates, lovers or family members deeply hurt these women who
already are perceiving their bodies in a negative way and feel different from
those around them.
There are excess folds of skin; the darkness, the
moisture and it’s private. So private that a lot of women don’t even know what
they look like and if it’s okay. So private that women don’t share their
concerns about their genitals and sexual function with anyone.
And many doctors tell their patients who raise
concerns about their labia that they are “normal.”
Just because they look anatomically “normal,”
they are still making their owners unhappy.
Embarrassed
Ann is a 24 year old single woman who has been
bothered by her labia minora as long as she can remember. They protrude well
beyond the labia majora, and a young family member once saw her coming out of
the shower and asked her “what’s that sticking out? It looks like a camel-toe.”
Ann was totally embarrassed by her appearance to
the degree she wouldn’t allow her partner to see her with the lights on, and she
never truly felt comfortable being touched because of how she felt about her
looks.
Understand, size is not always the issue, but
also comfort, hygiene, aesthetics and accessibility. As a female gynecologist
with over a decade of surgical experience, my practice strongly supports
providing safe and sensitive options for women bothered by their labia.
Female body parts are good…and they should make
you feel good, too. If you have pain or discomfort with intercourse and/or other
activities or if your labia are long, pigmented, uneven or uncomfortable, then
consider the option of labia reduction.
Ann left San Antonio for home the day after her
Laser Reduction Labioplasty. The difference was immediately noticeable and she
cried she was so happy to no longer have those long labia minora.
Her recovery was a quick four weeks and she felt
renewed in her sexuality. She wrote “I finally feel wonderful about my body. I
can even show it to my partner now. I feel beautiful.”
Hundreds of women have found the secret to
improving the way they look, feel and function through Laser Vaginal
Rejuvenation and Laser Reduction Labioplasty. If you have concerns, you can
change your life for the better with this safe and effective option for women.
